Towel of the Month - June 2013

Towel of the Month for June 2013 is a towel from the 2000-01 Playoffs. These towels are from the 2001 Playoffs. The Canucks were entering the Playoffs for the first time since 1996, and were playing the President Trophy winning Colorado Avalanche. The first three games would all be one goal games, all won by Colorado. The fourth game, which was in Vancouver, was a 5-1 blowout for the Avalanche, completing the four-game sweep.

This towel was the in-game towel form the series. It has a similar layout as the 2002 towel, except that there are only three sponsors instead of five. The left is CKNW AM 980, the then radio broadcasters of the Canucks. The middle is Coca-Cola, and the right is The Province Sports.

Towel of the Month - April 2013

Towel of the Month for April 2013 is a towel from the 2008-09 Playoffs. In the Western Quarter-Finals, the Canucks played the St. Louis Blues. The Canucks would sweep the Blues in four games, the sweep being completed by an OT goal by Alex Burrows late in overtime. The Canucks advanced to the Western Semi-Finals to face the Chicago Blackhawks. The Canucks and Hawks would trade wins in the first four games, before Chicago took over in the last two games to win the series 4 games to 2.

This towel was a special edition towel that could only be purchased at Save-On-Foods during the Playoffs. It only has one logo for Save-On-Foods Pharmacy and has a Canucks stripe pattern on the bottom and reads "We Are All Canucks" in the lower right hand corner.

Archive Update - April 2013

Hey Everybody!
Its been a long time since I've touched this webpage (try a whole year!) due to kind of forgetting I had it and the companion Facebook page; plus my schedule has been pretty hectic since May so I haven't really had the time to update it and work on it. So I've now made the decision to start working on it again, and I apologize for not making regular updates like I promised I would. I'm now starting to build my schedule around the page, by making sure that it gets regular updates each month along with a few added bonuses along the way.

Now on to this month's update.

First of all, I'm currently working on the pages for the 2011 Stanley Cup run and the latest from 2012. I'll soon be doing the Towel of the Month post along with a small bit of reformating for the old pages. Obviously cause I'm just getting back into the swing of things its going to take a while before any new towels are added, but I've heard interest from some people who want to add to the collection through some of their own towels. Soon, I'll be adding a page for people who want to sell a towel or two to the archives, where they'll be able to check our pricing on towels. I'll still have to figure out a system for that though.

Towel of the Month - April 2012

The inaugural "Towel of the Month" post features a towel from the 2001-02 playoffs. That year, the Canucks took on the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference Quarter-Final. The Canucks would win the first two games of the series in Detroit, but the Wings would take over after that, winning the next four games in a row and taking the series 4 games to 2, three of those wins coming in Vancouver.

This playoff towel design was used on towels in 2001 as well as 2002, and possibly others. In the top right is the logo for CKNW AM 980 radio, who was the radio broadcaster for all Canucks games before Team 1040 came to be. The top right is The Province newspaper logo for sports. The lower left is Coca-Cola, the lower middle features Save-On-Foods, and the lower right features Napa Auto Parts.

Hello, fellow Canucks fans! If you are reading this, I would like to welcome you to Towel Power: The Unofficial Vancouver Canucks Playoff Towel Online Archives! I'm guessing most of you would like to know why I made this blog. Let me explain.

I was born in Vancouver and so I naturally grew up loving the Canucks. I also have a serious love for collections. So for the past couple years, I have been collecting playoff towels from previous seasons to put together an archive such as this for future generations Canucks fans and hockey fans alike to enjoy. But naturally, its going to take more than just one person to make this a complete archive, which is why I've taken it to the internet, through this blog and soon, Facebook. If you have a playoff towel you would like to contribute to this project, let me know on this blog's message board!
